We are PROUD to announce that the AdvancED Accreditation Review Team has informed us today that they will be recommending Learning Gate Community School for National Accreditation! The school has been working diligently for over two years pursuing this accreditation on behalf of Learning Gate and our students.
We would like to congratulate the entire LGCS family for this outstanding achievement!
In addition to the numerous benefits to Learning Gate from becoming an accredited school, the benefits of accreditation to our students include:
- Ease in transferring credits from one accredited school to another.
- Greater access to federal loans, scholarships, post-secondary education and military programs that require students attend an accredited institution.
- Benefit from their institution or educational system’s commitment to raising student performance and accountability
The Hillsborough County Commissioners honored Learning Gate for our Ecofest which is our school's annual event, designed to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility. Commissioner Ken Hagan presented the award and spoke highly of the staff, programs and students at LG! Learning Gate was also recently recognized as one of the national Best in Green Schools by the US Green Building Council for Ecofest.

It is that time of year! The Pasco County School District website (www.pasco.k12.fl.us) is accepting requests for Out of County Releases for the 2015-2016 school year. You can access the information website and application here. Remember, this paperwork needs to be completed for each student for each year that a student attends a Hillsborough County school. Our goal this year is to have all the required paperwork for returning students completed prior to the end of this school year. Please don't forget to forward a copy of the Release form as well as the corresponding Application to Enter a Hillsborough County School (available in the front office) to Donna Brynjolfsson at donna@learninggate.org at the Hanna Campus or Kellie Human at khuman@learninggate.org for 7th and 8th grades.
Every spring and fall, Mr. Jim conducts a migratory bird banding project on the LG campus. We catch small migratory birds in mist nets, collect data on them, band them then safely release them back into the wild. Since the students have seen this project/process up to 8 times over the last 4 1/2 years, he is looking for a way to make it fresh and engaging for the students. We are looking for a few (2 - 3) creative and crafty volunteers to help me design and make migratory bird costumes to use during the lessons. They would need to be completed by mid-March in time for the bird migration and banding. If you are interested and excited to help with this unique volunteer project, contact Mr. Jim at: jim@learninggate.org Volunteers: We Need YOU!
