Class Description: Master the foundations of stand-up paddleboarding on Lake Michigan in this 120 minute class. Learn proper stance, paddle techniques, safety protocols, building your confidence and having a great time. Our certified instructors ensure a confident start to your paddling journey. Great for beginners. All equipment included. Min/Max 4/10
Registration: Please list the full name of each participant in the comment section when you pay for the class registration. If registering a minor (ages 13 -17), please indicate their age.
Schedule: Meet 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the lesson in order for us to make sure everyone is properly outfitted and prepared prior to the start. The instructors begin the program promptly at the scheduled start time.
Parking: Seasonal Lakefront Resident and non resident parking decals can be purchased through the PDHP here: https://www.pdhp.org/lakefront-parking-decals/ Day passes may be available through a parking kiosk. Lake Conditions and Rain Date: If rough conditions (wind and waves) occur, we will cancel the program 2 hours prior to the start of the class. We will then provide a rain date.
Cost & Cancellations: Class cost is $70 per participant and pre-registration is required for each participant. This class is open to Full and Paddle Memberships. Children 13 to 17 must take the class with an adult member. Participants must have the ability to swim in open waters. Cancellations by participant later than 48 hours prior to the class start time will not be refunded. Cancellations after registration up to 48 hours prior to class start time will be charged a 5% processing fee. Participants will be notified if the class needs to be rescheduled due to hazardous weather conditions. Questions, please email SUP@NorthShoreYachtClub.com SEE YOU ON THE WATER!
What to Wear and Bring:
- Swimsuit or shorts, rashguard/top. Lightweight, synthetic clothing is best.
- Water to drink
- Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, raingear
- Croakies or something to tie glasses on with
- Footwear- Barefeet or neoprene water booties are ideal. Shoes with laces and flip-flop sandals are not appropriate.
- Warm layers- Bring extra layers that are made out of a synthetic material (such as fleece, Coolmax?, polypropylene, etc.) Cotton will not keep you warm if it is wet. Come prepared for warm, cold, and/or wet weather. We will be paddling rain or shine! Dry clothes to change into after the class. Please be comfortable in the water and able to swim.
- You’ll be wearing a PFD at all times, and will also be tethered to your board with a paddle leash.
- Class cost includes all other necessary paddling equipment.
