Erich Wendel
In honor of the 20th anniversary of my fatherโs E.O.W. date, I am participating in the LEU Tough Ride. I will be riding a bicycle from Roanoke through the Shenandoah Mountains and finishing in DC for the beginning of National Police Week in May. My father, Douglas Wendel, was a Richmond Police officer who was murdered by gunfire on 07/30/03 from a suspected drug dealer. Since that time, when I was 11, I have attended programs run by Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) either as a survivor, mentor, or support staff every year. These programs personally helped me and my family's grief, rebuilding our lives, making new friends and I could never thank them enough. Since the inception of COPS in 1984, they have helped 65,000 survivors navigate grief, court proceedings and finding normalcy in these tragic situations. 100% of the money that Law Enforcement United (LEU) raises goes specifically to these COPS programs created for the children and families of fallen police officers
We have raised $2,070.00 of our $5,000.00 goal
