Friends of Wilbur has been attempting to erect a shade structure on the yard at Wilbur Charter for more than 10 years so that the kids at Wilbur Charter will have some shady play areas to get relief from the beating sun that is relentless in Tarzana, California. Friends of Wilbur promises to see this longtime dream come true, we are about 3 weeks away from having finalized plans for the 40' by 60' shade structure, then we submit for DSA approval, and once that is obtained, fabrication of the shade structure begins, it takes 4-6 weeks to fabricate, 1 week to ship and 1-2 weeks to install the structure. The total design, inspection and testing cost for the shade structure is $39,965.00 which Friends of Wilbur paid in full in September, 2017. The cost of the shade structure is $58,369.38 (which includes fabrication, shipping and installation). This is what we need to raise to #GetSHadeonWilbur and the reason for this special #14days4shade fundraiser. We are asking each student to reach out to 10 friends or family members during this #14days4shade pledge drive and ask if they would give up one simple pleasure, such as their Starbucks coffee, and instead, donate $5 or more to the #14days4shade pledge drive!
