The Western Massachusetts Counselors Association (WMCA) was founded in 1946 as the Western Massachusetts Personnel and Guidance Association. The organization consists of school counselors and adjustment counselors of all levels, as well as representative from area colleges and universities. Our primary objective is to bring together individuals interested in some phase of guidance or admission work. WMCA serves as a vehicle to provide its members current information regarding the field of guidance and counseling, as well as formulating standards and principles for guidance and admission professionals.
Each spring WMCA awards several scholarships to relatives of our members and to current graduate students in a School Counseling Program. In addition, we present two awards, the WMCA Counselor of the Year, to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of guidance and counseling; and the WMCA Rising Star, to someone relatively new to the profession who has quickly demonstrated both skills and commitment to the profession.
WMCA is an affiliate of the Massachusetts School Counselors Association. Currently our membership consists of over 200 members throughout Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut.
