We were honored to have Brigadier General Joe Jarrard, Adjutant General Georgia Department of Defense, speak to the Marietta Business Association Luncheon, on May 9. BG Jarrard spoke on how the Georgia National Guard serves our community and our Nation, consisting of more than 11,100 citizen-soldiers training in more than 79 hometown armories and regional facilities across the state. Georgia’s Army Guard is the eighth largest in the nation and includes combat, combat support and combat service support units. Thank you also to the Marietta High School ROTC for providing the Presentation of Colors.

We have enjoyed getting to know the candidates at our MBA lunch programs! Thank you for your willingness to serve our community through public service!

MBA Teacher Hero Award

MBA's monthly Teacher Hero award was presented to an educator at Park Street Elementary.  Principle Mr. Freeman nominated Audrey Dominguez on four positive and qualitative values. Audrey fosters integrity, respects colleagues and students, promotes community and family collaboration and improves the lives and learning of students.  "Ms. Dominguez is continually improving her instructional practices and learning new techniques so that she can be more effective for her students." says Mr. Freeman. Congratulations Ms. Dominguez!  We are excited to honor your hard work and dedication to the students of Park Street Elementary School.

The Marietta Business Association is proud to support our military members - active, reserve and retired - and their families. On April 12, MBA donated gift cards to the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation and provided lunch for the Guardsmen in attendance. The Foundation provides emergency relief and assistance to members and families of the Georgia National Guard.

Thank you to our MBA Members who served the lunch to the Guardsmen! They were: Amanda Williams, Dave Young, Arthur Eyzaguirre, Nathan Wade, Angella Ocheltree, Katara Nix, Scott Forester, Julie Michaels, Nancy Couch, and our "grill masters": Brent Rittersdorf and Gifford Pace.

We want to send a special THANK YOU to each of our MBA Members who donated for the Kroger Gift Card program. Because of your generosity, we were able to provide more than $1,000 to help our Guardsmen in need. We also want to thank our business sponsors: Winnwood Retirement Community, Puckett EMS and Bank of North Georgia for their generous contributions to provide for the lunch for 300 soldiers. Kroger was also generous in donating items for this event. Thank you to Dave Young and Dr. Amanda Williams for leading our VETS program. MBA is proud to partner with our community in service to others.
