Presentation Overview: This presentation will discuss the types of meters commonly found in natural gas measurement and how measurement is performed using these meters for custody transfer or check measurement. We will briefly examine temperature and pressure measurement, gas quality, and gas volume corrections.
Bio: Souk Heminthavong began his career as a Gas Measurement and Compression Engineer for Southern Natural Gas in Birmingham. He then worked as a Division Engineer for El Paso Energy and as a Test Engineer for a meter manufacturer before joining EN Engineering. At EN Engineering, Souk served as a Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager, executing projects for various clients and training engineers. Later, he joined Kinder Morgan, where he helped establish the Loss and Unaccounted-for Gas Engineering Group, developing tools and processes to reduce unaccounted-for gas. Souk was promoted to Division Technical Operations Manager, overseeing measurement, corrosion, and compression technical teams, ensuring compliance, and providing technical guidance. After 16 years at Kinder Morgan, he joined Shactee Engineering to form the Gas Transmission Engineering Group. Souk is currently a Practice Builder and Senior Project Manager at Kimley-Horn. He is active in industry organizations and enjoys family time, restoring vintage cars, racing, and off-road motorcycling.
