Join the New York Chapter of the Coalition and Seyfarth as they host lawyer-turned-author, Marlene Trestman, to discuss the biography of her mentor, Fair Labor Lawyer: The Remarkable Life of New Deal Attorney and Supreme Court Advocate Bessie Margolin (LSU Press, 2016).  In the book, Trestman explores Margolin’s inspiring and improbable journey from the New Orleans Jewish orphanage in which she was raised, through the New Deal and the Nazi war crimes trials at Nuremberg, to the United States Supreme Court in which she championed the Fair Labor Standards Act. Using archival photos and documents, Trestman’s presentation for the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law will explore the history of women in the law and at the Supreme Court in the mid-twentieth century through Bessie Margolin’s life and career.
