Do you enjoy the theater? Join us for a dynamic talk featuring James Monaghan, Director of New Plays and Dramaturgy at the Asolo Repertory Theatre. James will speak about how he and the artistic team at the Asolo Theatre select a season of plays and musicals to engage and serve the Sarasota community. He will also address how the Asolo works to reach further with the development of new plays that contribute to the theatre canon of tomorrow.

 About James Monaghan

• James Monaghan is the Director of New Plays and Dramaturgy at the Asolo  Repertory Theatre. James’ dramaturgical work for Asolo Rep includes: Lady  Disdain (Rolling World Premiere); Fiddler on the Roof; Primary Trust; The Mirror Crack'd; The Unfriend (US Premiere); Come from Away; and many more.
• Prior to returning to the Asolo, James served as the Programs Director at the Hermitage Artist Retreat for four years where he produced more than 50 interdisciplinary arts events for the Gulf Coast community annually. He also wrote about theatrical design as the Tow Foundation Fellow in the Roundabout Theatre Company Archives, created a one-on-one theatrical experience for the National Theatre of Croatia in Rijeka, and worked in the literary department of PlayCo in New York.
• James holds an MFA from Columbia University and a BFA with honors from NYU. He is originally from Houston, TX.
