The FEW is an adventure based outreach program designed to "reach" Exceptional Warriors. Our program strives to inspire change in the Exceptional Warriors’ perceptions, decrease their feelings of helplessness, and get away from the idea that they are alone.
The FEW "recognizes" the unique needs of Exceptional Warriors. This group of individuals tend to require experience doing activities that are completely new and different to them, in order to begin to see themselves differently. Outdoor therapy such as peer-to-peer “fireside therapy” facilitates moments whereby those who served together can also heal together.
Adventures provided to Exceptional Warriors by The FEW are termed "therapeutic recreation". This type of therapy facilitates connectedness and personal empowerment. Therapeutic recreation is a catalyst used to begin a new journey and in the process, "refresh" warriors' spirits.
After more than a decade of sustained conflict and multiple deployments, we now have entire generations of service members, veterans and military families who know nothing but War and that War comes home with them. Statistics show more veterans are dying from suicide, 18-22 per day, than in combat operations. The Foundation defines “Exceptional Warriors” as the “operators” within the Special Operation Forces community, those heroes recognized by the DOD for valorous actions, and the warriors that have been combat wounded. As General Patreus said: “They walk the point for our Nation.” Founded by the same men it serves, the mission of the FEW is to conscientiously impact the most under-served of all military communities: the SOF Operators, the Valorous and the Combat Wounded. We work alongside local communities, businesses and organizations to save veteran's lives.
The Inaugural Trap Shoot and Auction is a way to help fund the events the FEW provides and to spread the word about what the FEW can do for our
Exceptional Warriors.
