ABOUT THE EVENT:

The Chemists’ Club, in conjunction with UNESCO and the New York University Chemistry Department, will be hosting a one-night- only event including a panel discussion, student poster session, and reception; food and drinks included with conference registration. The night will begin with an expert panel discussion on diversity and inclusion in the chemical industry, with a focus on how companies are proactively changing workplace culture to serve underrepresented minorities and implementing active policy changes to promote intersectional inclusion. The panel will be followed by an interactive reception and poster session to showcase student scholars. Professionals will have the opportunity to get to know an outstanding group of advanced students based on their personal and professional interests. We hope that this unique event will facilitate valuable connections; we encourage the exchange of business cards, follow-ups, and interviews. In true Chemists’ Club fashion, there will be ample time for the attendees to mix and mingle!

The event is designed for anyone interested in learning more about diversity and inclusion, professionals looking for new hires, and students looking for jobs. There will be students from local schools (NYU Washington Square Campus, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Columbia, Cooper Union, CCNY) and professionals. Professional registration is on a first come, first serve basis, so please sign up as soon as possible to secure a spot. After a successful event in 2017, this will be our second annual dual sustainability conference/job fair, and we are looking forward to seeing you there!

LAST YEAR’S BOND CONFERENCE PANELISTS:
  • Kevin Eckerle, Senior Manager, Accenture Strategy & Sustainability Practices
  • Dr. Ingrid Mergelsberg, Director of Chemistry, Merck
  • Rose Perkins, Associate Director, Sustainability, Business Integration, & Employee Engagement, The Dow Chemical Company
  • Dr. Ana Persic, Science Specialist, UNESCO
  • Jonathan Tran, Manager for Sustainable Living, Unilever North America
  • Charlene Wall-Warren, Director of Sustainability, BASF
Why you should come?

For those interested in diversity and inclusion:
Diversity and Inclusion affects the emotional and mental well-being of all individuals within a company. Increasing awareness, education, and proactive programs regarding D&I ultimately affects the company’s sustainability and bottom line. It is included in the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals, which can be read about here:
http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development- goals/

For professionals:

Learn about D&I goals and bring back ideas that can improve your own company. You will also have a chance to meet students at the undergraduate and graduate level that are looking for jobs. Since students will be presenting information about themselves outside of the classroom, you will have the chance to get to know the students on a personal level.
