THE ART OF THE NUDE
This class will be first in a series on photographing the " Art Nude". This class is perfect for the male and female photographer shooting art nudes for the first time. It is also a great way to learn different lighting techniques.
Instructor: Rick Caruso Model: Ela Jay Assistant Gia
Equipment : Camera, pocket wizard if you have them and your laptop with your post production software available to use.
Duration 5 hours
First Hour
1. History of the nude
2. Genres and what is an "implied" image
3. Erotic vs Pornography
4. Guidelines for shooting nudes.
This guide line discussion will be led by model Ela Jay.
5. The Release, Rights and Obligations
The Rest of the Class. Hours 2 through 5
Hour 2, and 3
1. Directing the model
2. PosesThis part of the class is designed to explain the development of a series of poses and the directing of a model on set. We will go over a series of ideas and lighting set ups in my style.
We will break up the class into 2 groups. While all photographers can observe the shoot only 1 group at a time may bring their cameras on set and shoot.
Hours 4 and 5
Will be a loosely structured free shoot with my assistant and myself working with the photographer teams to help them arrive at there desired image out comes.
At this time the non shooting photographers will work on post production. I will be explaining my workflow using Lightroom5
Releases will be signed by model, with an additional usage agreement available for $25 to be paid to the model. The images that are available will be those shot in hours 4 and 5 as these will reflect each photographers vision .

Artist's Statement
Risen Phoenix is the nom du camera of Minnesota based fine art photographer Rick Caruso. Born and raised in Southern California Caruso studied photography at Pepperdine University in Malibu.
"I have always been drawn to the lyrical nature of the female nude and its place in the art dialog from the Greeks and Romans to the modern and the surreal masters of photography.
"I love the interplay of light and line which enrobes the female figure, and the emotive elements that bring back a cherished memory or a desired future"
Risen Phoenix has been influenced by the images of Man Ray, Stieglitz, and Weston as well as the work of Brandt , Sief and Garduno.
