RSVPs for this event are closed

You must be registered for the conference to attend a field trip or movie venue.
Registration for the field trips and movie venue is required so we can better communicate with each venue.  Every movie venue will have heavy appetizers or dinner provided at their site. You must register two weeks prior to the conference, September 10, if you plan to attend the dinner. If you register after this date, you may be asked to contribute to dinner costs. Review the field trips and movie venues below and then click on the "YES! I am Attending" button and you will be taken to the registration page.
TAEE will do our best to let you know what is happening with in-person field trips and the movie venues in the current covid climate. However, because guidelines change rapidly it is up to each individual to contact the field trip and/or movie venue to confirm their covid policy and event details as the date of event draws closer.

Saturday, September 25th Field Trips
Pocket Praires of Houston See locations below.  All locations are within 30 minutes of downtown Houston, 15 minutes from each other.
Saturday, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
How can you immerse your students in an ecosystem that they design and build themselves? Plant a prairie, we'll give you the seeds. Plant a prairie; large, small, simple or complex. Plant a prairie, be amazed at what life you attract, an actual "build it and they will come" experience. Literally bring life into your curriculum with: citizen science projects; biodiversity surveys; wildflower and insect identification and more. Plant a prairie, build a place of knowledge and wonder, and help us restore the Texas Coastal Prairie, an ecosystem of which less than 1% remains.
During this field trip you can visit up to four school pocket prairies, all within 15 miles of each other. Each workshop participant receives startup resources including a wildflower seed packet compliments of Native American Seed. Each packet can cover 20 square feet of native wildflowers. Participants may also join the Pocket Prairie Teachers Facebook group, an invaluable resource for sharing ideas and solving problems. As an added bonus, each participant may receive an on-the-ground personal consultation from a Texas Master Naturalist.
Plant a prairie, amaze students, heal the land, join us.
For more information regarding this field trip, contact Alicia Mein Johnson at aliciamein@hotmail.com or Jim Islieb at isleibj@gmail.com. If you know which prairie you would like to visit, you can contact the location directly and let them know you are coming.
