You must be registered for the conference to attend a field trip or movie venue.
Registration for the movie venue and field trip is required. At each movie venue heavy appetizers or dinner will be provided. We need to know how many people are attending these events prior to the conference so we can better commnicate with the venues and provide the proper amount of food. Registration is required two weeks prior to the conference, September 10, if you plan on attending the dinner. If you register after that date, you may be asked to contribute to dinner costs. After reveiwing the field trip and movie venue options below, click the "YES! I'm Attending" button and you will be directed to the registration page.
TAEE will do our best to let you know what is happening with in-person field trips and the movie venues in the current covid climate. However, because guidelines change rapidly it is up to each individual to contact the field trip and/or movie venue to confirm their covid policy and event details as the date of event draws closer.

We'll take TAEE participants on our traditional beginners' bird walk, and give a little insight into our EE programs for students and the general public. Our trails are crushed rock, with a slight downhill toward the bird pond, and slight uphill back to the main building. The walk is about a mile, with options to go further if the group is comfortable with the distance. Some areas of the trail get narrow and will require single file to pass. Wear close-toed shoes and bring water and binoculars.  Bring a lunch to enjoy on the grounds after your EE experience.

Nutrition and Gardening at Casey Elementary School, 9400 Texas Oaks Dr, Austin, TX 78748
11:45 a.m.  – 12:15 p.m., meet at Casey Elementary
Students from University of Texas  participate in a year-long internship where they teach nutrition, gardening, and culinary arts to Title I elementary school students in the greater Austin area. These TEKS-aligned lessons are taught outdoors in a school garden setting, and the main objective of each lesson is for kids to make connections between nature, food, and health. In this presentation and panel discussion held in the garden of Austin’s Casey Elementary School, we will discuss the outcomes from the first two years of this innovative course from both a programmatic perspective, and through the words of elementary teachers and students who have participated in the program. Afterwards, attendees will be free to explore the school’s garden facilities and engage in further discussion of the program.
** This presentation can be attended in-person or virtually. If attending in-person, make sure to register.
