May 25, 2021 marks the one-year anniversary of the killing of 46-year old Black man George Floyd. What followed in the year after his murder was a national showing of grief, anger, and revolution. Issues in racial inequality have been brought to the fore-front of national discourse, touching every industry including the counseling profession. While diversity and inclusivity have been principles espoused by many counseling organizations, true committment to these ideals has been fleeting until now.

In 2020, SCCA created SC Counselors Care, a virtual advocacy series in response to Floyd's murder, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Our first event was titled "Counselors' Response to Racial Trauma." Join us as we reflect on the progress of the past year, and the road ahead for counseling professionals.

Program Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to understand the evolution in principles of diversity and inclusivity in the counseling profession over the past year.
2. Participants will be able to identify ethical considerations for diversity and inclusivity moving forward.
3. Participants will be able to identify continued intervention and advocacy opportunities for counseling professionals.
