Class Description: This class will develop your endurance for distance, teach proper paddle skills that will fine-tune your paddle stroke and glide, as well as tighten your buoy turns. You will gain confidence with your balance and footwork. All skill levels welcome.

Registration:  List the full name of each participant in the comment section. If registering a minor (ages 13 -17), please indicate their age.

Schedule: Meet 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the lesson in order for us to make sure everyone is properly outfitted and prepared prior to the start. The instructors begin the program promptly at the scheduled start time.

Parking:  Be sure to display your Park Ave Beach Parking decal or adhere to City of Highland Park Regulations. Parking tickets are $75 each. You can review PDHP parking information here:  http://www.pdhp.org/beaches/parking-2/
 
Cost & Cancellations: The cost is $30 and is payable online, or day of by check or cash. Make checks payable to NSYC. Pre-registration is required for each participant. This class is open to Full and Paddle Memberships.  Participants must have the ability to swim in open waters and must have passed the SUP Skills and Water Safety Assessment. Cancellations by participant later than 48 hours prior to the class start time will not be refunded.  Cancellations after registration up to 48 hours prior to class start time will be charged a 5% processing fee. Participants will be notified if the class needs to be rescheduled due to hazardous weather conditions.
 
What to Wear and Bring
  • Swimsuit or shorts, rashguard/top. Lightweight, synthetic clothing is best.
  • Croakies or something to tie glasses on with
  • Footwear- Barefeet or neoprene water booties are ideal. Shoes with laces and flip-flop sandals are not appropriate.
  • Warm layers- Bring extra layers that are made out of a synthetic material (fleece, Coolmax, polypropylene, etc.) Cotton will not keep you warm if it is wet.
  • Come prepared for warm, cold, and/or wet weather.
  • Dry clothes to change into after the class. 
  • Please be comfortable in the water and able to swim.
