Class Description: This is a 2-hour introduction skills class for stand up paddleboarding. An American Canoe Association level 1-certified SUP instructor will teach you what you need to know about water safety, proper equipment, board sizing, board types, proper paddle strokes, and basic board balance and control. The remainder of the class will be spent paddling Lake Michigan. This is a great skills class! Participants who pass this class will be qualified to use club paddleboards.

Registration:  List the full name of each participant in the comment section when you pay for the class registration. If registering a minor (ages 13 -17), please indicate their age.

Schedule: Meet at the clubhouse 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the lesson. The instructors begin the program promptly at the scheduled start time.

Parking:  Display your Park Ave Beach Parking decal or adhere to City of Highland Park Regulations.

Lake Conditions and Rain Date: If Lake Michigan conditions are too rough for paddling (wind and wave conditions), we will cancel the program 2 hours prior to the start of the class. We will then provide a rain date.

Cost & Cancellations: Class cost is $50 per participant and pre-registration is required for each participant. This class is open to Full and Paddle Memberships.  Children ages 13 to 17 must take the class with an adult member. Participants must have the ability to swim in open waters. Cancellations by participant later than 48 hours prior to the class start time will not be refunded.  Cancellations after registration up to 48 hours prior to class start time will be charged a 5% processing fee. Participants will be notified if the class needs to be rescheduled due to hazardous weather conditions.
