Course Description: A comprehensive study of all phases of residential construction geared toward the Permit Tech. Construction, and inspection processes, and terminology will be covered in depth. Attendees will gain knowledge about the construction of a single-family residence - both frame and masonry, be able to identify various construction materials and have a better understanding of the required inspections
Course Attendees: This course is designed for permit technicians, development services front counter staff, building inspectors, code enforcement officers.
Course Documentation: Upon completion of the training, 4-hours of CR CEU's will be provided within 7 working days.
Instructor, Mary Dickson:
Prior to retiring, Mary had been the Building Official for the City of Litchfield Park, Arizona since 2017. Prior to that position, she served as the Building Official/Fire Marshal for the City of El Mirage, Arizona for 10 years and Senior Plans Examiner for the City of Avondale, Arizona for 9 years. Mary also does free-lance blueprint drawing of custom homes and remodels and has over 500 projects in 7 states. Before finding her niche in Building Safety, she taught at the high school and junior college level for 12 years, teaching classes in architecture, drafting, blueprint reading and computer aided design (CAD). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Career and Technology Education and has earned ICC certifications in Residential & Commercial Plan Review, Building and Fire Inspections, and others including Certified Building Official. Mary has taught classes throughout the U.S. on IBC and IRC Overview, Residential Blue-Print Reading for Permit Techs, Front Counter Plan Review, Property Maintenance Code, and Hoarding Issues for Building and Code Enforcement.
Cancellations by the eCityGovAlliance:
Classes cancelled by the eCityGovAlliance will result in a 100% refund of seminar fees. If payment was made via credit card, refunds will be credited back to your account.
Discretionary cancellations by registrants:
Substitutions are accepted anytime without charge, and are encouraged; however, if the registrant must cancel without a substitution, the following conditions apply:
At least seven (7) business day’s notice: Full refund less 10% MemberPlanet Fee
Less than seven (7) business day’s notice: No refund
If event fee is less than $25: No refund
Emergency cancellations by registrants:
Cancellations due to a personal medical or family emergency (medical or otherwise) may be eligible for a full refund. Please notify eCityGovAlliance via e-mail at the registrant’s earliest convenience and include a supervisor’s contact information for verification as may be required.
Emergency cancellation refund requests must be submitted to the eCityGovAlliance no later than 7 business days after the registered class end date
Please allow at least 5 business days for confirmation of emergency cancellation refund approval.
Credit or debit card charge disputes by registrants:
Registrants will be responsible for any returned payment fees if they dispute charges with their bank/card company before contacting eCityGovAlliance with a refund request.
An additional fee, equal to 10% of the class registration fee, will be added to any returned payment fee from a bank/card company, and will be the responsibility of the registrant who initiated the charge dispute.
