Course Syllabus
: This course will cover the 2020 NEC requirements covering the installation of photovoltaic electrical and energy storage systems. This presentation will cover the NEC requirements for the installation of photovoltaic systems, specifically the grounding and bonding requirements in Article 690. Additionally this course will cover the interconnection of energy storage systems and photovoltaic systems and the requirements contained in Article 706 and Article 705.  

Course Objectives: To discuss the requirements for grounding and bonding of photovoltaic systems and the changes in the 2020 NEC as well as the interconnection of PV and energy storage systems, their uses and their applicable standards and specific requirements found in Article 690,706 and 705 in the 2020 NEC

Course Content:
30 minutes- Instruction: Introduction and definitions in Article 690
60 minutes- Instruction: Part V Grounding and Bonding Article 690
30 minutes- Instruction: Part III Disconnecting means Article 690
60 minutes- Instruction: Article 706 requirements for energy storage systems
60 minutes- Instruction: Interconnection of PV and ESS systems and Article 705                                                               
Total CE Hours = 4 hours

Course Material: This course will use the 2020 NEC and the applicable UL Standards as the basis of the presentation. This course will be a live seminar using Microsoft Powerpoint as the Method of presentation.

Course Attendees: This course is designed for licensed electricians, inspectors and engineers.

Course Documentation: Upon competition of the training, 4-hours of CR CEU's will be submitted to the State of Washington within 7 working days.

Location: This course will be offered at Bellevue City Hall.  Due to the light rail construction, there is no on-premise parking.  Once your registration is received, you will be emailed a map of parking options in the area.  Be aware:  110th Ave NE is closed between NE 4th street and NE 6th street.  

Instructor Bio:  Chris Jensen was introduced to the electrical trade at an early age. He was in his early teens when he would work summers at his grandfather’s electrical contracting company hauling material, digging trenches and performing general labor. In August of 1994 he received his Journeyman electricians license and in June of 2004 he received his Master electrician’s license. From 1990 to 2005 he worked as an electrician, until May of 2005 when he changed hats and became a combination inspector for North Logan City. In January of 2014 he became a Building Official for North Logan City. In August of 2017 Chris went to work for UL as a Lead Regulatory Engineer where he remains currently employed. He has taught the electrical apprenticeship program for Bridgerland Applied Technology College, and is an active member of the Utah Chapter of the I.A.E.I and holds a position on the board. Chris is a past Principal on Code Making Panel 10 for the NEC and was involved with the development of the 2014 and 2017 NEC.
