The Annual Indiana Council for the Social Studies Conference is a professional development opportunity for teachers of History, Geography, Economics, Government, Psychology, Sociology and other social studies courses in all grade levels. Advanced registration has closed, please come to the conference and register onsite with a check or credit card.
 
The 2019 ICSS conference theme celebrates and recognizes Hoosiers past and present from all walks of life chronicling and exploring Hoosiers and their impact on the world. Expect exciting presentations from colleagues, professors and local historians about Hoosiers, famous, infamous and just plain interesting.

  • Keynote speaker: Ms. A’Lelia Bundles, Madam C.J. Walker’s great-great-granddaughter. Listen to how the Bundles family has played a significant role in Indiana history, politics, and culture for more than a century.
  • Lunch speaker: Dr. Tina L. Heafner, President of the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)
  • ICSS and Geography Educators Network of Indiana (GENI) Awards
  • Indiana's Gilder Lehrman Teacher of the Year Recognized
  • A dozen different interactive educational sessions

Additionally, the free Indiana Studies app, CitizIN will be launched at the ICSS conference. Attendees will be the first ones to experience the finished digital application designed to supplement the teaching of Indiana Studies in grades 7-12.
