Please join us for a full two days of Alternate Care Site (ACS) and Shelter Management Training provided by our training partners at BCFS Health and Human Services Emergency Management. BCFS HHS is an innovative and dynamic system of non-profit organizations that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of at-risk populations. BCFS HHS partners with government agencies, corporations, non-profits, and community leaders to develop programs and service models that combat challenges in health and human services.
 
Day One - Alternate Care Site Planning for HealthCare Facilities - A course for healthcare emergency planners, administrators and staff that will cover the basics of alternate care site planning and operations, including medial surge planning for ACS,  types of ACS locations, regulatory requirements for a healthcare based ACS, continuity of operations, communication considerations, resource acquisition and staffing strategies. The course covers requirements for acute care facilities as well as long term care/assisted living facilities.

Day Two - Alternate Care Site Workshop: This course is designed specifically for local emergency managers, elected and appointed officials, emergency planners, public health agencies and other stakeholders who may have a role in standing up a sheltering operation during a disaster. The course will cover general population sheltering, medical needs sheltering and other community based alternate care site operations.  The course provides attendees with an understanding of the definition of community based alternate care sites (ACS), and an overview of setting up and managing a community based  ACS. We will also discuss how to incorporate functional needs support services into alternate care site shelters.

Day two culminates with a scenario-based table top activity designed to demonstrate shelter set up and configuration utilizing information presented during the lecture rounds out the training.

This session includes spiral-bound classroom handout materials, a laminated Field Operations Guide and a course completion certificate from the BCFS HHS Emergency Management Division.
