It’s not easy to grow tomatoes in the south. Our humidity, heat, pest and disease pressure can wreak havoc in the garden.

Join us for an interactive and live workshop with Craig LeHoullier, Timothy Noyes and Melissa DeSa to learn the secrets we've accumulated over the years to successfully grow tomatoes in the south!

The season in North Carolina is underway, while the one here in North Florida is winding down. Meet us in the middle! You will see our season highlights with video tours and demos, with lots of opportunity to ask questions along the way.

From seed starting to seed saving, we’ll cover a lot of ground:

  • Planning a tomato garden
  • Seed starting and transplanting
  • Staking & supports
  • Maintenance & troubleshooting
  • Saving seed
  • Breeding basics
Craig LeHouillier is a gardener, educator, author and founder of the Dwarf Tomato Breeding Projects. His book Epic Tomatoes is an excellent resource for gardeners wanting to deepen their knowledge of growing tomatoes. Get the book! He gardens in Hendersonville, NC.

Timothy Noyes is a gardener, educator and amateur plant breeder. He teaches and shares his knowledge about gardening, and his love of tomato breeding with the Gainesville, FL community.

Melissa DeSa is a gardener, seed saver and non-profit founder of Working Food. Not a tomato expert, but long time learner of all things growing and seed.

The event is free but donations are always appreciated to support our work.
