In-person meetings (No Zoom)

Jonna Phillips, MA, LMFT Jonna Phillips will be presenting on the Veteran Resilience Project's history and developmental goals. She will share how they work with other organizations to build relationships to outreach to Veterans/military members as well as about their Veteran Resilience Therapy Network. Lastly, she will give an overview of EMDR (eye move desensitization and reprocessing) Therapy and the effectiveness of working with PTS(D), Trauma, and other mental health symptoms.
Jonna continues to serve as a traditional guardsman, joining the Air National Guard in 2000 as an enlisted member. She is now a Major and the Director of Equal Opportunity for the 148th Fighting Wing in Duluth, MN, and oversees the MN Air National Guard Sexual Harassment Task Force. Due to her experience as a therapist, a military member, and a Veteran's spouse she can bridge potential gaps between Veterans and the process of starting therapy.
While in Private Practice, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Jonna often saw Veterans with PTSD and Trauma (combat and noncombat-related), including Military Sexual Trauma (MST). Trained in EMDR, she would utilize this modality of therapy due to it being non-invasive and effective. Clients that would go through EMDR would resolve their trauma(s) and significantly improve their overall quality of life. Jonna wants to share with Veterans that there is an effective way to treat their symptoms, and this is not something they "Just have to live with".
Jonna is married to a retired Active Duty Army Veteran, six times deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, which has led her to serve for multiple Air Guard Wings. While living in Michigan she coordinated the first Women's Leadership Symposium for the Michigan National Guard, which continues to be hosted annually. She has worked on military bases as a contract therapist supporting both military members and their families, served as the Reintegration NCOIC, noncommissioned officer in charge, for the MN Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program, and continues to pursue an advanced EMDR certification. She enjoys diversification in her work, creativity, strategic planning, personality assessments for personal and professional purposes, yoga, meditation, and cold exposure. Her current mantra is "Know your worth, protect your peace".
