FBI Special Agent Peter Lapp
Mr. Lapp will discuss the Ana Montes Espionage CaseMr. Lapp became a special agent with the FBI in 1998 and was first assigned to the Washington Field Office, where he investigated Cuban counterintelligence and counterespionage matters. In 2005, Mr. Lapp was assigned to the Baltimore Division, Wilmington (Delaware) Resident Agency where he investigated a variety of counterintelligence issues. In September 2008, Mr. Lapp was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Counterintelligence Division's Counterespionage Section and focused on economic espionage investigations. In May 2010, Mr. Lapp was promoted to unit chief of the Counterespionage Section's Economic Espionage Unit and later he was the unit chief of the Chinese/East Asia Espionage Unit. In September 2012, Mr. Lapp was detailed to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as a senior advisor for Homeland Security and Law Enforcement in Partner Engagement. In January 2014, Mr. Lapp returned from his detail and became the unit chief of the Office of Partner Engagement’s Active Shooter Unit. In October 2015, Mr. Lapp returned to the Washington Field Office and is currently a private sector coordinator, as well as the office's Domestic Security Alliance Council coordinator.
