Come get physical with your fellow MoM's and learn the basics to self defense! It will be a 1 hour class to show us all the basics we would need to know. This class is capped at 20 people, so get your RSVP in! The cost is only $5!
After our class we will go out for brunch! Feel free to come to just the class, just the brunch, or both! I will update the brunch location as soon as I have it, most likely Northstar Cafe or Mimi's cafe.
What will we learn?
You’ll learn to de-escalate first. Physically engaging should always be a last resort. We’ll teach you ways to avoid fighting through understanding and manipulating the psyche of the aggressor.
You’ll train to fight dirty. We take the sneaky and ‘high-percentage’ techniques from Jujutsu and other martial arts that are best-suited for self-defense and teach you to apply them under pressure and resistance. Along with those techniques you will learn the appropriate positions to integrate attacks to the eyes, groin, or small joints to compound damage and end the fight quickly.
You’ll learn effective weapon strategies. There is no such thing as a fair fight, which is why you will work with common self-defense weapons such as mace, sticks, knives, and firearms. In grappling, you will learn to note positional advantages and disadvantages based on the ability to access and use a weapon.
You won’t train under any competition rules. In fact, we’ll encourage you to break them. The only rule we acknowledge is the legal standard of self-defense. Do you know what constitutes deadly force and when it is justified? Do you know what to say, or more importantly, what not to say to the police after a situation has occurred? Have you ultimately won the fight if you end up in jail or sued? We break down the legalities and nuances of self-defense so you can use them to your advantage.
You’ll train in shoes. The vast majority of conflicts occur with an aggressor who is wearing shoes. Training in shoes not only aids in realism, but is both safer and more hygienic.
