APN Session 1 - Grief and Loss (Lifelong Issues In Adoptive Families, with Denise Rice)

Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association would like to announce this year's training sessions for our Adoptive Parent Network Families.  Beginning Tuesday, April 4, you will have the opportunity to participate in a six-session online training on the Lifelong Issues of Adoptive Families.

The training is provided by Denise Rice, MSW, LCSW, LAC.
Ms. Rice is an Independent Trainer and Consultant with HOPEful Healing Training and Consultation in Colorado Springs, CO.  She is also a Adjunct Faculty at the University of Denver, as well as a Crisis Assessment Specialist at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital.  Ms. Rice also serves on the Board of Directors with the National Foster Parent Association, the SOAR! Youth and Adult Choir, and Heritage Family Village.

With your reservation, CMFCAA will send you a link to the online training as well as any documents that Ms. Rice will be using during that training. Each training will be held on the first Tuesday of each month (with the exception of July).  CMFCAA will send information prior to each meeting. You may join the sessions at any time. 

Below is a description of each session:

Title: Session 1-Grief and Loss 
Description-This first session in a series of 6 will begin to explore the lifelong issues in adoptive families by highlighting grief and loss. We will look at how all members of the triad (adoptive parents, adoptee and birth parents are impacted as well as adding siblings and extended family) are impacted. 

Title: Session 2-Rejection 
Description-In this second session of the series we will explore how rejection can impact the members of the triad as well as siblings and extended family. 

Title: Session 3-Guilt/Shame 
Description-In this third session of the series we will explore how guilt and shame impacts the members of the triad as well as siblings and extended families.

Title: Session 4-Identity 
Description-In this fourth session of the series we will explore how identity impacts the members of the triad as well as siblings and extended families.

Title: Session 5-Intimacy 
Description-In this fifth session of the series we will explore how intimacy impacts the members of the triad as well as siblings and extended families.

Title: Session 6-Mastery and Control 
Description-In this sixth session of the series we will explore how mastery and control impacts the members of the triad as well as siblings and extended families.
