Laissez les bons temps rouler! The “Night for Sight Mardis Gras Ball” is a high-spirited and fun-filled evening that will benefit Metrolina Association for the Blind. Held at Neoteric Brewing Co. in the Rosedale Shopping Center, Huntersville on Saturday, January 27, 2024, there will be live music by the Bayou St. John Boys Band, New Orleans-style food, beads, and masks.
WHO IT BENEFITS
METROLINA ASSOCIATION FOR THE BLIND (MAB) has been providing services and empowering people who are blind or visually impaired since 1934. It services those in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Union counties of all ages. Services MAB provides include Case Management, Low Vision Optometry, Low Vision Therapy, Rehabilitation Therapy, Assistive Technology, Orientation and Mobility, and other supportive services such as transportation, group training, support group, counseling, and referrals. www.mabnc.org
E.Y.E Tribe – Envisioning Youth Excellence – is a new after-school program that serves visually impaired students. Students are taught such life skills as self-advocacy, etiquette, emotional regulation, creative arts, cooking, and technology. These and other outside activities as rock climbing and ice skating foster independence and self-confidence. Older students are prepared for the future through volunteer opportunities and other resume-building activities.

Since 1873, DELTA GAMMA has shaped women’s lives by promoting education, cultural interests, and social responsibility. It is a diverse group of women with over 250,000 members across the US and Canada. The Greek letters for Delta Gamma, ΔΓ, stand for “do good”, and since 1936 Delta Gamma has focused on sight conservation and aiding the blind.
For over 30 years, the CHARLOTTE AREA DELTA GAMMA ALUMNAE CHAPTER has continued in these traditions and has carried on the mission of “Service for Sight” by supporting community-focused volunteer events across the Charlotte metro area.(charlottearea.deltagamma.org)
