"Effective Leadership in the Marketplace"
What are the marks of an effective business leader? Can Christian companies be both culturally relevant and biblically driven? In this 2-part video course (available to members of CBCHR for free with Membership) produced in partnership with Soderquist Leadership, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy answers those questions and more as he shares with marketplace leaders how to lead from the front lines with clarity of purpose.
Immediately following this video, CBCHR will provide a facilitated discussion on the take aways from Dan's training. Members are able to go on and continue the entire series on their own with their Membership Benefits of access to this material.
Dan Cathy
Daniel Truett Cathy is an American business executive and currently the Chairman, President and CEO of the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A, one of the nation's largest family-owned businesses founded by his late father, S. Truett Cathy. Dan began doing radio commercials for his father's original Dwarf House restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia in the early 1960s. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University in 1975, then began working for his father's company as Director of Operations.
As President and CEO, Dan chooses to spend the majority of his time traveling to the chain's 1900 restaurants and interacting with Chick-fil-A's committed team of restaurant Operators and team members. His actions stem from a belief that working in the field provides a clearer understanding of the ever-evolving wants and needs of Chick-fil-A customers, and leading from the front line also enables him to personally convey his servant spirit to the chain's 70,000-plus employees.
In the 2014 Glassdoor Employee's Choice Awards, Chick-fil-A ranked among the top 50 Best Places to Work in the nation. Forbes also ranked Chick-fil-A as the 4th most inspiring company in the country following a survey of more than 2,000 consumers evaluating 25 companies.
Dan holds honorary doctorates from the University of West Georgia, Anderson College, Carver Bible College, and Pepperdine University. The Cathy family runs WinShape Foundation, a non-profit which supports a group of Southern Baptist ministries. Dan and his wife, Rhonda, have two grown sons.
