Mr. Mok’s discussion key points:
Under the current political environment, how to adhere to the loyalty principle of being bi-cultural to achieve what is possible for Chinese Americans to live the American Dream and understand what the requirements are:
-   What is the American Dream, and what is the Chinese Dream? Is it possible to have the Chinese Dream within the American Dream? How not to confuse the American Dream with the Chinese Dream?
-   As a bi-culture American, how to attain career success and children's upbringing successfully by choice?
-   What is the crucial skill sets not being taught at universities to accomplish such goals?

Mr. George Constantine will discuss service on U.S. nonprofit boards of directors and the restrictions and expectations that apply to board service.
 
Mr. Seth Leech will be describing many of the recent changes in immigration law including the recent executive orders on travel bans, family-based green cards and employment based green cards and visas. He will also be discussing issues relating to a travelers rights vis-à-vis government officials at airports and ports of entry."
 
Biography:
Samuel Mok
The Honorable Samuel Tinsing Mok is the managing member of Condor International Advisors, LLC, a management consulting firm that specializes in providing management advisory services to American companies in the Federal market and to Pacific oriented companies with a China focus.  Previously, he served as a presidential appointed and Senate confirmed chief financial officer of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) from 2002 to 2007.  After receiving an honorable discharge as a captain in the U.S. Army, while stationed at U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he served a tour of duty as a Foreign Service officer at the East Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau of the State Department.  Additionally, he was director of accounting at Time Life Books and Treasurer at US News and World Report.  He also served as chief financial officer and Comptroller of the U.S. Department of the Treasury during the Regan Bush administration.
 
Mok earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Fordham University and a Master of Arts degree in accounting from the Catholic University of America.  He also graduated from the U.S. Foreign Service Institute and the U.S. Army Institute of Administration at Fort Benjamin Harrison.  Born in Shanghai, China and raised in Hong Kong, Mok speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese.  He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA) and served as the National President of the Association of Government Accountants. 
 
George Constantine
George Constantine is co-chair of Venable's Nonprofit Organizations Group and leads Venable's associations practice. George concentrates his practice on providing legal counseling to and advocacy for nonprofit organizations, including trade associations, professional societies, advocacy groups, charities, and other entities. He has extensive experience with many of the major legal issues affecting nonprofit organizations, including tax exemption, antitrust, governance, and transactional matters. He is well versed in matters related to association standard setting and enforcement, certification, accreditation, and code-of-conduct reviews.

George assists clients with:
  • Critical tax-exemption matters involving Internal Revenue Code (IRS) § 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(6)
  • Advising nonprofit organization boards of directors on their compliance obligations
  • Guiding associations and other nonprofit organizations undergoing mergers, consolidations, joint ventures, and dissolutions
  • Ongoing counseling on numerous transactional and operational matters unique to nonprofit organizationsGeorge is the former staff counsel of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). As ASAE's sole staff attorney, he gained in-depth experience with the many legal issues facing associations. He has also represented ASAE's interests before Congress and federal agencies.

Seth Leech
Seth Leech is a Partner with Whiteman Osterman & Hanna and is a member of the Firm’s Immigration and International Trade and Business Practice Groups. Mr. Leech’s primary practice area is immigration law involving employment-based immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions, labor certification, waivers, family-based immigration and asylum. He has developed particular expertise as it relates to the immigration needs of engineers, scientists, researchers, and university personnel. Affiliations Mr. Leech has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 1996. With that organization, he has served as a liaison of the Naturalization Committee and co-chairman of the Asylum Committee for AILA’s South Florida Chapter. More recently, he has served as the Treasurer of AILA’s Upstate New York chapter. Mr. Leech has been a member of the Board of the Upstate Hispanic Chamber of Commerce since October 2010 and previously served on the Board, including a two-year term as President, of Catholic Charities of Albany/Hispanic Outreach Services. Mr. Leech regularly presents on immigration related topics before local colleges and universities, governmental entities, public and private research institutions and a number of community organizations. Fluent in English and Spanish, Mr. Leech is a regular contributor to several regional Spanish language publications. Publications "Navigating the Affirmative Asylum Process:

Mr. Leech received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in history and psychology. Mr. Leech is admitted in New York, Florida and the District of Columbia.
