The Basic Firearms Instructor Course is designed for sworn and non-sworn law enforcement personnel responsible for firearms training in their agency or organization. In addition to diagnosing shooter issues, the class will address important aspects of firearm instruction to include safety protocols, developing lesson plans, training documentation, and adult learning techniques. Taught by members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Weapons Training Unit, all instructors have extensive experience training new firearms instructors, recruits, and in-service personnel in firearms operations and instruction.
Important: students are required to qualify with pistol, shotgun and carbine on the first day of class. The qualification courses will be provided before the course begins, giving students time to practice and prepare for the courses of fire. Failure to qualify will be grounds for dismissal from the course and a refund will not be issued.
A copy of CATO's Covid policy is attached. Students will be required to sign a liability and Covid waiver on the first day of class.
See the course flyer for additional information.
