In this practical hands-on session, learn how to convince a hard-core data-first leader that you can bring a true ROI with your change management efforts, and then track the metrics that will convince even a data scientist of the validity of your work.

The event

In the first part of the session, we’ll talk about an airtight way to calculate a Change ROI.  This will include not only an understanding of the equation but also a practice session for how to get the elements in a convincing way.
In the second part of the session, we’ll cover an approach to building out change metrics and a way to conduct change analytics that bring real insight into your change initiative.  This will include a live structuring of the analytics with all of the participants playing consultants for a fictitious client in the middle of a big change.  We’ll do all of this in MS Excel but point to tools that will allow you to go deeper as you develop your skills.

The final part of the session will be the construction of a convincing presentation with data visualization at the heart of the presentation.

The speaker

Ed Cook, PhD

President of The Change Decision, a change and culture consultancy in Richmond, Virginia, and visiting professor at the University of Richmond, Ed Cook will share his insight and experience in data and decision making. He has extensive experience in corporate transformation including bank and telecommunications acquisitions and the difficult post-merger integration. He’s handled complex processes, products, and technical system rollouts – but most importantly the cultural aspects! While leading large teams implementing multi-million dollar changes, he has cultivated success by creative change management.
As a pilot in the US Navy, Ed logged 2500 flight hours and over 700 aircraft carrier landings. The culmination of his military service was driving nation-building activities and creating financial and infrastructure solution-focused legislature for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. Dr. Cook also serves as chair of the board of two nonprofits aimed at engaging children and teens in art and writing, and has worked with several other nonprofits in guiding them through strategic planning.
