WEF Annual Appeal

Welcome to another school year in the Wiseburn Community!

One of the main reasons many of our new residents purchase homes in this community or families choose to permit their children is because of the Wiseburn Unified School District that resides within. Whether you have children who will attend these schools or not, you will find that community involvement is prevalent in ensuring our students receive the best educational experience possible. Our elementary, middle, and high schools employ some of the state’s best teachers. This is evident in our students’ high academic performance and you can see it in their passion in and out of the classroom.

The Wiseburn Education Foundation was established in 1996 with the goal of helping to enhance music, arts, and education programs within the WUSD. In the 2016-2017 school year, the Wiseburn Education Foundation awarded over $65,000 and successfully funded:

*Performances, choir, and band instruction for 3rd through 8th grade students at Anza, Burnett and Dana schools
*Growing Great, an interactive program providing nutritional lessons, at Anza and Burnett Elementary Schools
*Individually Designed Dance Program at Cabrillo Elementary School
*PS Arts program for 3rd through 8th grade students at Anza and Burnett schools
*Teacher grants to each school annually that have funded art supplies for middle school students, digital cameras for hands-on-art projects, web-based learning curriculum, risers for a stage and acoustic panels for one of the school’s auditoriums
*General support for Parent-Teacher Associations at all four schools annually

Our schools do not simply educate our children but help to prepare them for higher education so they can become productive members in society. After all, learning opportunities do not simply end after we leave our schools.

We respectfully request you make a contribution to the Wiseburn Education Foundation through our website http://www.wiseburneducationfoundation.org/today.  We suggest a donation of $100 per child but any amount given is appreciated.  We encourage 100% participation from every family.   Your contribution will enhance student learning throughout the district and support the very backbone of our community.

WEF strives to unify the schools and communities of the Wiseburn Unified School District.  We encourage the entire community, past, present and future students’ families, to participate in WEF’s Annual Rock Around the Block Family Fun Day, which will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Richard Henry Dana Middle School at 5504 W. 135th Street in the community.  Several hundred students, parents, local residents, and community leaders will be in attendance to support quality music, art, and educational programs provided within the WUSD.  Festivities includes a train ride, carnival games, amusement rides, crafts, food kiosks, silent auction, and most importantly musical performances from our own Anza & Burnett Elementary, Dana Middle and DaVinci High school band and choir students. Other upcoming WEF sponsored events include:

*Annual Giving Campaign
*Food Truck Night
*Celestron Stargazing Night
*WUSD Concert on the Green

California’s future is in the hands of the next generation. Regardless of whether you live in the community and have children who attend our schools or are a family on permit, it is our highest priority to ensure that all our children have a well-rounded and meaningful education.  As a community neighbor and partner in education, your support is critical to our kids’ success. Thank you in advance for your generosity and consideration of our request. Your donation makes a difference!
