I AM A GIRL

Warrior Women: I am a girl

The need for education among the young especially females is a grave wake up call. There is access to Primary Level Education since the implementation of the ‘Millenium Development Goals’. In spite of this progress, there still exist a lot of what we’ve termed the ‘she-struggles’

She struggles to stay in school but she has to leave and take care of her family. She is married off while still in school, and she bears a child while she herself is still one. She turns to the streets to make some money, but the only thing she gets from there is Disease.

At the end of it all, she is left there with no hope to share with her children, all she knows is Poverty. She wishes she had someone, really anyone, to look out for her. She wishes there was someone fighting for her, alongside her. A voice to speak out for her against those she is too scared to speak out against. Maybe then she could have been a doctor, a fashion designer, the President, a better mother. She could have been someone to look up to. She could have had an equal participation in the creation of policies. She could have fought for others just like she had been fought for.

She could have been ‘someone’, and she would have ‘mattered’.

Well, to us she does matter, and she is someone, and always will be. Warrior Women is the Voice she’s been looking for. We exist for her and the many like her. So here’s to you, the Real Warrior Women.
