After my husband and daddy to our four small children, Patrick was killed in the line of duty in September 2012, my children and I were drowning in grief. In the summer of 2013, we began annually attending C.O.P.S. Kids' Camp. There, we each met and got to know some of our very best friendsโ friends who really did understand what we were going through. We spent a week each summer with our friends, wonderful volunteers and counselors, doing camp things: singing around a campfire, fishing, hiking, boating, swimming, laughing, crying, healing. It has been a gift watching my kids grow up and thrive with their friends. Eileen and I have wanted to ride with LEU since that very first summer, when we learned they completely fund CKC, so the grieving families do not have to pay for any of it. We want to pay our gratitude forward. Here we are, 10 years later, so excited to ride for our Patrick and for C.O.P.S. Kids Camp.
