Established in 1988, the mission of the Cedar Park Neighbors Scholarship Committee is to recognize and encourage young adults living in the Cedar Park neighborhood of West Philadelphia who are committed to pursuing higher education and provide them with both mentorship and financial support to help them be successful in their post-secondary endeavors. CPN renamed this the Gary Bronson Memorial Scholarship in 2015 in honor of our visionary neighbor and friend, who founded this scholarship 30 years ago.

About

In 2021 we raised over $11,000 and funded six students with cash scholarships to help defray some of the incidental costs of attendance. During the school year the committee reaches out to the students via calls, emails and care packages at finals.  

The committee raises funds through contributions from our neighbors and an annual fundraiser usually held each spring. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to reapply each year they are enrolled in post-secondary education and are also encouraged to participate in neighborhood activities.

Donations 

Donation to the Scholarship Committee go directly to our recipients through scholarship funds, gift baskets, and receptions.  Any amount helps!  

All donations are tax deductible.

A note about the above donations

The above total includes $3,000.00 of the $5,000.00 pledged in matching funds. As of 5/20/22 we need $2573.00 in gifts by the end of May to receive the remaining $2,000.00 in matching funds.
