The Order of 1865 Campaign

Unveiled at the 79th ATO Congress, the Order of 1865 highlights undergraduate member giving to the Annual Loyalty Fund. However alumni can also join by giving $18.65 or more.

What is the Order of 1865 and what is its purpose?

The Order of 1865 is the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation's annual giving club designed specifically for ATO undergraduates. The purpose of this giving club is to create awareness of the mission, goals and activity of the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation and to establish a culture of lifelong annual giving to the Annual Loyalty Fund. The Annual Loyalty Fund is the lifeline of the Fraternity's educational activity, and joining the Order of 1865 is an excellent opportunity for undergraduates to show support for the mission of Alpha Tau Omega.

How do I join the Order of 1865?

Any undergraduate who gives $18.65 or more to the Annual Loyalty Fund is a member of the Order of 1865. Contributions can be made through this web page or checks can be mailed to: Alpha Tau Omega Foundation - 32 E Washington St #1350, Indianapolis, IN 46204. The Order of 1865 is an annual giving club and undergraduates are encouraged to join each year while in college. After graduating, we encourage you to continue to give your loyal support by donating $18.65 monthly. Once you have landed your dream job and are financially secure, we will ask you to give $1,865 annually.

Are there membership benefits or recognition for joining?

Every undergraduate how joins the Order of 1865 will receive the Order of 1865 T-shirt. You will be recognized as a donor and member of the Order of 1865 in the Honor Roll, recognizing supporters of the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation.

How does my gift make a difference?

Your $18.65 contribution to the Annual Loyalty Fund helps provide the financial resources that staff and operate the educational Foundation, important alumni outreach initiatives, and support to the Fraternity's exceptional leadership development programs. The Annual Loyalty Fund provides the Fraternity Grant supporting Chapter-based LeaderShape, ELC, Congress, President’s Retreat, Altitude, GreekLifeEdu, Altitude, Encounter, and the Archives. On average, the Foundation must raise roughly $300,000 for the Annual Loyalty Fund each year. Although $18.65 may not seem like a large contribution, your gift is a testimony to alumni about the importance of giving back to ATO. Joining the Order of 1865 is a way for undergraduates to begin their commitment of giving back to Alpha Tau Omega with an annual contribution to the Annual Loyalty Fund.

Now that I've joined the Order of 1865, how can I help?

As a member of the Order of 1865, there are many ways you can help. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Work with your chapter's leadership to ensure you have a goal for membership in the Order of 1865 this year.

2. Partner with other Order of 1865 members from your chapter, and give a presentation to each pledge class on the purpose of the ATO Foundation and an overview of the Order of 1865.

3. Wear your Order of 1865 T-shirt to a chapter meeting, on campus or while attending Fraternity leadership programs or events. These are excellent opportunities for you to engage in conversation with your brothers about the Order of 1865 and your passion for supporting the ATO Foundation annually.
