Arrowhead Hawk Walk

Arrowhead's Hawk Walk event is raising money to replace the existing totem pole at our school. Fourth grade students have been doing research to identify the origin of the pole as well as the original carver. Through research they have contacted Eagleson Williams, the grandson of the original carver. He is going to work with the school to design and create a new totem pole to replace ours since it is deteriorating. We will then return the original pole so it will be with the family again.

As part of the fourth grade class project, students are learning about the culture and history of Northwest Native People. Eagleson Williams is not only collaborating with students on a new totem pole, but he is also teaching students about traditions, the symbolism of totem pole figures, and about Ditidaht culture.

The Arrowhead PTA has provided $3000 deposit to initiate this project. The Hawk Walk seeks to raise the remaining funds needed to replace the pole and plaque.

The new pole will be completed and raised next fall.

The Hawk Walk event will be held May 19th. Your donation supports student participation in the Hawk Walk event and general fundraising for our new totem pole. Thank you for your support!

Corporate matches from your employer are greatly appreciated. More info and the opportunity to print a receipt on our website.
