Bowfishing Association of America

Kentucky

Welcome to the Bowfishing Association of America, commonly referred to as the BAA. We are the only national bowfishing organization in the country.

The BAA was first established 1990 as a way to keep track of bowfishing tournaments in the United States. Since then, the sport of bowfishing has grown and evolved and the BAA has progressed along with it. With the advent of the internet and social media, the task of relaying tournament schedules from around the country has been taken up by various websites and bowfishing community forums.  As a result, the BAA has shifted its focus to promoting and defending the sport of bowfishing.  We now work closely with various state-level bowfishing clubs, state-level management agencies, and political factions to ensure that bowfishing-related activities are available now and for future generations.

We work tirelessly to advocate for the rights of bowfishermen, while also promoting safety, community outreach, and environmental stewardship.  As interest and participation in bowfishing grows, so do the responsibilities of the BAA. Unfortunately, this year we have been tasked with implementing a memorial program dedicated to two fellow bowfishermen who lost their lives in a boating accident. This program, called Life Jackets for Life, will help ensure that no participant on the water is without life-saving technology.  The BAA annually sponsors various benefit tournaments across the nation that provide financial support to cancer research, military veterans, and conservation.  And finally, the BAA and its members actively promote values of responsibility and respect among the bowfishing community by providing education, instructions and signage for proper fish disposal, and self-policing of uninformed or ill-intended individuals.

While widely recognized today as the only national organization working to defend and promote the sport of bowfishing, our existence and success would not be possible without the diligent efforts and countless hours of service from our members.  Any organization is only as strong as its member base, which is why we continually ask for and need your support.  Please consider becoming a member BAA member today, and join us in our efforts to preserve the great sport of bowfishing.
