April 16-21
April 18th- Family Night- no homework!

-

Dear Point Vicente Parents –

Now that Spring Break is behind us, the year will fly by!
Please give me a call if you have questions or concerns that you want to share. Please make an extra effort to slow down in the school parking lot - and to be cautious as you drop off/pick up your child from school. Remember - your children are watching you and learning how "grown ups" follow rules. Your maturity and cooperation following school safety procedures is vital.
Thank you for observing courtesy and parking etiquette in the neighborhood!

Children’s Book Drive in April!

Girl Scout Troop 4215 is holding a children’s book drive to stock a new library at the
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station in Lomita.
This station handles a lot of custody cases and often child services are involved.  This would provide a small gift for a child in need.
Please consider donating new or gently used infant to teenager level books.  The donation box is outside the front office.
Thank you for your support as we work on this bronze award level project.

International Day- May 24th

International Day is one of the best days at Point Vicente!
The children have the opportunity to travel from booth to booth and “visit” different countries.
They learn interesting facts, a few words of the language, and sample a taste of the famous food of that country.
The students are encouraged to come to school dressed in clothes from other countries.
Students also participate by attending and possibly performing in the International Day Assembly- where students sing a song or perform a dance from another country!

Please contact Principal Beth Hadley if you would like to be involved!

May 7-11th
The PTA is busy planning a variety of activities to show our teachers and school staff how much we appreciate them! Stay tuned for more information on how YOU can get involved!

Attention Parents of 5th Grade Students!

As you begin to finalize plans for this summer regarding activities for your child, I wish to remind you of the PEP Summer Program offered at Miraleste and Palos Verdes Intermediate Schools.
(PLEASE NOTE: Ridgecrest will be closed due to summer construction ... students who will be attending RIS in the fall are welcomed to enroll in the Miraleste or Palos Verdes Intermediate School summer programs.)
The four week program, beginning June 18th and extending through July 13, is a wonderful way to provide a preview of coming attractions for your emerging middle school child.  Attending exciting and fun-filled courses or a combination of core academic and enrichment classes, situated  on an intermediate campus, replicating a typical morning schedule with four periods and a mid morning nutrition break, starting at 8:15am and ending at 12:30pm with the rest of their day available for other summer activities, provides the perfect recipe for a smooth and seamless transition for students as they prepare to enter middle school..
Enjoy peace of mind knowing your child (and you!) can enjoy the rest of the summer not worrying about the traumas associated with the first day of middle school.  He or she will already have become familiar with the classrooms, the teachers and the intermediate school setting.
Online registration for the PEP summer program will begin on Monday, April 9, at 9:00am . . . classes fill quickly so don't wait!
For further information regarding course offerings, specific site information or to register online, visit the Palos Verdes Peninsula Summer Schools website at:
www.pvpss.com
Or, you may contact the Summer Help Desk at:  (310) 378-8695

If you signed up for a PTA membership- then you should have access! Emails with access information were sent out the week of December 20th.
The email was titled: Instructions to access our school's online and mobile directory
The directory is a great way to stay in touch with other families in our school community.
With access you can search for families, students and faculty and update your family data if anything changes. You can also print the directory, visit our online Store and Signup for events.

Thanks for being in our community!
