Dear Point Vicente Parents –
It’s almost time ... get ready... READ! We will kick off our annual celebration of the joy of reading February 21. Please help your children by scheduling a trip through the library so they have a stack of books! We will all count our pages read - and there is an ice cream treat for the class average that beats mine! Our celebration culminates March 23- and parents are invited to join us for lunch that day! This is a great opportunity to grab a book yourself and join your child on the couch! Read Across America with Point Vicente!

From the desk of Kathy Barry, District Nurse:
Flu season is upon us.  Some of the symptoms of the flu are: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue, sometimes diarrhea and vomiting.

Please keep your child home if they have flu symptoms.  Students can not return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (for example, Tylenol). The flu virus is spread mainly from person to person through droplets made when people with the flu cough, sneeze or talk.  The flu virus also may spread when people touch something with the flu virus on it and then touch their mouth, eyes or nose.
To help prevent the spread of the flu, stay away from others as much as possible to keep from infecting others.  If you must leave home, wear a mask if you have one or cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or by sneezing into your elbow, not your hands.  Wash your hands often to keep from spreading the flu to other.

Thank you.
