Hello Briarcrest Families!
Congratulations to all of us for making it through September! The kids are settling into their routines, and it's clear that fall is here with the changing weather. We extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in our first Dine Out fundraiser – what a delicious way to support our school! We're also grateful to those who helped out and joined us for our first movie night of the year. Sharing that movie experience with friends was such fun!
Our PTA works hard to nurture our community and support our students and staff. In order to make this another great year, we need volunteers. There are so many opportunities - big and small - for those who would like to contribute a little of their time to helping us make this the best year yet.
No matter if you’re only able to help for a single hour, you have the bandwidth to plan our next fun event, or even become a chair, we need you. Sign up today using our Volunteer Sign Up form.
Please make a note if you’re able to take on any of the following: Art Reflections, Briarcrest Breakfast, Golden Apple/Golden Acorn awards, Ice Cream Social, Kindness Challenge, Membership, Skate nights, Testing Snacks. Organizing one of these events isn’t very time consuming, but is still very impactful for our school. If you are willing to be a classroom rep please email Kim Mahoney.

Straight Up Fundraiser  Get ready for our annual fundraiser! This is the one time a year we ask for your support as we raise funds to continue programs that build community and directly support our staff and students. Donations can be made via check or cash and any amount is appreciated.
Call for Student Art!
Reflections is a nationally run art recognition program. Students of all ages are invited to create artwork in a medium of their choice based on a theme. This year’s theme is “I am Hopeful Because...”
Art work can be completed to be judged in one of the following categories:
Dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.
Please submit your artwork digitally along with this submission form to reflections@briarcrestpta.org on or before November 20th, 2023.

Art Docent - Volunteers Needed *Image from our Sugar Skulls and Mary Blair projects last year The Briarcrest Art Docent Program is in need of classroom volunteers to assist with in-class art projects throughout the 2023 - 2024 school year. Art Docents are able to coordinate with their classroom teacher to find the time that best fits their unique schedule. Each year the docents present 3 or 4 lessons plus an art activity to their assigned classroom. A brief lesson plan and all supplies will be provided. No art experience or training is required. The only requirements or qualifications are a willingness to have fun and to explore artistic styles and mediums at an elementary level with the students in your classroom. Volunteers are able to request the classrooms they would like to work in.

- Complete the district’s volunteer application. Due to the high volume of submissions it’s taking 2-3 weeks for this to be processed, so please complete ASAP.
- Email bcartdocent@briarcrestpta.org with your contact information (Name and Email) as well as the name of the teacher(s) classroom you’d like to volunteer in.
Wish you could contribute but you can’t make it into the classroom? We’re always collecting supplies for our next project so purchases from our Amazon Wish List are always appreciated!
Volunteer Opportunity - Classroom Representative Hello PTA families, we're still looking for volunteers to fill the role of classroom representative for several of our teachers this year. If you're looking for an opportunity that is fairly simple yet vital to supporting our teachers and Briarcrest community, this is for you!
Responsibilities include: Supporting the teacher to meet their classroom supply and volunteer needs, helping spread the word about upcoming school events and encouraging teacher appreciation throughout the year. Essentially, you're emailing with fellow classroom parents in your student's room to help spread awareness and community involvement throughout the year.

Skate Night!  Join us on 10/20 for skate night at Lynnwood Bowl and Skate! $10 per skater, Parents are asked to stay and encouraged to participate. No drop offs allowed. No outside food or drink.
Little Free Pantry We have a free food pantry we support at Briarcrest. The Pantry is located on 145th St and 25th. This is for any families in Briarcrest to use. We are looking for a volunteer to head up organizing our monthly food drives. Please send an email to BriarcrestelementaryPTA@gmail.com if you're interested in helping out.
We would love your help with food donations for our community food pantry. Thank you!
Join PTA Have you joined the Briarcrest PTA for this school year? If not, now is the perfect time to do so! While membership is not required to attend this week's PTA meeting, membership does allow you to VOTE on issues brought to the board during a meeting, as well as amplify our school and our district's voice at the State level.- Signing up for PTA Membership is quick and easy online. Recaudación de Fondos Directa  ¡Prepárate para nuestra recaudación de fondos anual! Reflections es un programa de reconocimiento de arte administrado a nivel nacional. Se invita a estudiantes de todas las edades a crear obras de arte en un medio de su elección basado en un tema. El tema de este año es "Tengo esperanza porque..."
La obra de arte se puede completar para ser juzgada en una de las siguientes categorías:
Coreografía de danza, producción cinematográfica, literatura, composición musical, fotografía y artes visuales.

Docente de arte - Se necesitan voluntarios
El Programa de Docentes de Arte de Briarcrest necesita voluntarios en el salón de clases para ayudar con los proyectos de arte en el salón de clases durante el año escolar 2023-2024. Los docentes de arte pueden coordinarse con el maestro de su salón de clases para encontrar el horario que mejor se adapte a su horario único. Cada año los docentes presentan 3 o 4 lecciones más una actividad artística en su salón de clases asignado. Se proporcionará un breve plan de lección y todos los suministros. No se requiere experiencia artística ni formación.
