Hello Briarcrest Families!Greetings to all our wonderful families as we gear up for another incredible school year for Briarcrest Elementary! I'm thrilled to introduce myself as your PTA President, and I'm joined by an outstanding team: Vice President Derek Lockett, Secretary Alison Kerns, and returning Treasurer Cathy Fullen. Get ready for an exciting year ahead filled with fantastic events that will bring our community together, support our students and teachers, and make lasting memories. To make this year truly exceptional, we're counting on your enthusiasm and involvement. Together, let's create a year of shared successes and unforgettable moments. Art Docent - Volunteers Needed! *Image from our Sugar Skull Project last year The Briarcrest Art Docent Program is in need of classroom volunteers to assist with in-class art projects throughout the 2023 - 2024 school year. Art Docents are able to coordinate with their classroom teacher to find the time that best fits their unique schedule. Each year the docents present 3 or 4 lessons with an art activity to their assigned classroom. A brief lesson plan and all supplies will be provided. No art experience or training is required. The only requirements or qualifications are a willingness to have fun and to explore artistic styles and mediums at an elementary level with the students in your classroom. Volunteers are able to request the classrooms they would like to work in.
So what do we need from you? - Visit our Art Docent Page for more information.
- Complete the district’s volunteer application. Due to the high volume of submissions it’s taking 2-3 weeks for this to be processed, so please complete ASAP.
- Email bcartdocent@briarcrestpta.org with your contact information (Name and Email) as well as the name of the teacher(s) you’d like to volunteer for.
 Dine-Out to Support the PTA!Help us kick off another school year of fundraising events at Sodam Chicken! Sodam Chicken (17551 15th Ave NE) is a restaurant co-owned by a Briarcrest family, making this a super special Dine-Out for us.
On Tuesday, September 26th, Sodam Chicken will donate 20% of sales of their tasty chicken (and other delicious dishes) to support our community. If you visit the restaurant, bring this image/flier or mention the fundraiser at checkout. If you order online (https://sodamchicken.menu11.com/), use the digital coupon code "SODAMFUND" at checkout.
Don't forget to post about the fundraiser on social media, order extra for tomorrow's lunch, and invite family and friends. Can't wait to dine out with you!

Little Free Pantry
Food Drive - First week of the month
We have a free food pantry we support at Briarcrest.
The Pantry is located on 145th St and 25th. This is for any families in Briarcrest to use.
PTA is collecting non-perishable food and personal care items the first week of each month. We will have collection bins out for students to drop off food to donate in two places. They will be under the school reader board sign for walkers and at the gate for car drop off and pick up. You can also drop off food donations directly to the little free pantry.
We would love your help with food donations for our community food pantry. Thank you!
Join PTA
Have you joined the Briarcrest PTA for this school year? If not, now is the perfect time to do so! While membership is not required to attend this week's PTA meeting, membership does allow you to VOTE on issues brought to the board during a meeting, as well as amplify our school and our district's voice at the State level.
- Signing up for PTA Membership is quick and easy online. Join here!
- Want to become a member but are concerned about the cost? Not a problem! Many scholarships are available to cover the membership fees.
- Can't remember if you joined yet? You can log-in to MemberPlanet and check, or email us and we can check and let you know!
- Memberships need to be reactivated every year. If you were a member last year don't forget to reactivate your membership for 22-23!

Docente de arte - Se necesitan voluntarios

Tenemos una despensa de alimentos gratis que apoyamos en Briarcrest.
The Pantry está ubicado en 145th St y 25th. Esto es para que lo use cualquier familia en Briarcrest.
La PTA recolecta alimentos no perecederos y artículos de cuidado personal la primera semana de cada mes. Tendremos contenedores de recolección para que los estudiantes dejen comida para donar en dos lugares. Estarán debajo del letrero de la pizarra de lectura de la escuela para los peatones y en la puerta para dejar y recoger el automóvil. También puede dejar las donaciones de alimentos directamente en la pequeña despensa gratuita.
