*En español debajo Hello Briarcrest Families! Thank you for coming to Heritage Night and sharing a part of you with our Briarcrest community. I loved getting to see and learn from everyone. I’m looking forward to trying all the amazing recipes that got turned in for the cookbook. The cookbooks will be ready to come home later this spring.
We have some exciting virtual and in-person events coming up in May and June. But we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to help with the Talent Show, Science Carnival, and Open House/Ice Cream Social, and the Art Docent program. There is more info about each of these below.

Art Docent at School - Volunteers Needed in the Classroom!
We need your help! The Art Docent program (as part of the Briarcrest PTA) is planning an in-class art project for the month of May.
Art Docents are volunteers who teach art in the classroom. There are no set requirements or qualifications, just a willingness to learn and teach. You don’t have to be an artist to be an Art Docent!
So what do we need from you?
- First, complete the district’s volunteer application. Due to the high volume of submissions it’s taking 2-3 weeks for this to be processed, so please complete ASAP.
- You will receive a brief training on how to present and complete the art project in the classroom.
- You will then need to schedule a day (maybe two) and time that works best for you and your teacher to come and do the project with the class.
The Art Docents will provide all the supplies you need for this project. If you’re interested in participating or would like more information please contact Jacky and Danielle at briarcrestart@gmail.com.
 Fundraising Committee is Looking for Volunteers!Looking for a way to get involved with the PTA and make a difference at Briarcrest? Join the fundraising committee! We explore new community partnerships, plan events, and help families contribute in meaningful and fun ways. Any of your time and talent will help.  May General Membership MeetingOur Last Membership meeting of the year will be Thursday, May 12th at 6:30pm. Come vote for next year's PTA leaders and approve our budget for the following school year.

 Little Free Pantry Briarcrest PTA has adopted the Little Free Pantry located on the corner of 25th and 145th in the Shoreline United Methodist Church parking lot. Please drop off any non-perishable food donations or personal care items at the Little Free Pantry. There is also a box on the loading dock at Briarcrest to collect pantry donations.
The PTA is encouraging every grade to be responsible for stocking the pantry each month the rest of the school year.
April - 4th grade
May - 5th grade
June - All grades
Children’s Book Spotlight from the DEI Committee:
When Aiden Became a Brother, by Kyle Lukoff
 When Aidan is born, his parents think he’s a girl, but he advocates for himself – explaining that he is actually a boy and choosing his own name. When his baby sibling is about to be born, Aidan is excited to be a big brother, but he’s also anxious. He wants to make sure that no one tells his baby sibling who they have to be and what they have to like. He wants them to have the chance to choose for themselves. This moving book with vibrant illustrations is written by Kyle Lukoff, who is also trans and draws from his own insight and experience to lovingly portray Aidan’s story. Appropriate for children K-5, this simple, sweet story shows the importance of listening to children and letting them define their own identities.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation
The PTA is collecting donations to go toward our monthly Teacher Appreciation activities. For instance, in December the school staff enjoyed donuts provided by the PTA, January was muffins, etc. In February we provided Costco Pizza to them all as our monthly "Thank you for being amazing!" event. During conference week in March staff enjoyed tacos! April will be another treat. We want to show our love and support to our amazing BC Teachers and Staff and would appreciate any donation toward our goal of providing a little something every month. No donation is too small! Donate online or send your donation to school in an envelope addressed to the PTA.

We have an amazing team of volunteers this year working hard to bring great programs to Briarcrest, but we have a few areas we still need help with! We are especially in need of volunteers to help with Communications, Fundraising, Teacher Appreciation, Talent Show, Art Docents, and our Science Carnival. ¡Necesitamos tu ayuda! El programa Art Docent (como parte de la PTA de Briarcrest) está planificando un proyecto de arte en clase para el mes de mayo.

Pequeño desafío de despensa gratis
La PTA de Briarcrest ha adoptado la pequeña despensa gratuita ubicada en la esquina de las calles 25 y 145 en el estacionamiento de la Iglesia Metodista Unida de Shoreline.
