Spring Fling THIS Saturday!
The Mantua Spring Fling will be held this Saturday, March 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Grab the whole family and come to the school for more fun than you can imagine! There will be gigantic inflatable amusements, carnival activities, games and prizes for everyone as well as local food vendors, a marketplace, and a silent auction featuring prizes from all your favorite teachers and Mantua staff! Don't miss this fun-filled afternoon and a great way to support your school. You can find all the information you need about the Spring Fling right HERE!

Wristband sales will begin this Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. and will run through Friday. Get your wristband early to save money and avoid the lines! Wristbands provide unlimited play at most games, the Cakewalk, and amusement attractions.

More Spring Fling Help Needed!
As with any of our PTA events, we cannot have a successful Spring Fling without the help of volunteers. Can you volunteer to help for one hour on Saturday, March 29th? Please visit our VOLUNTEER SITE to see how you can help. If you have any questions, please contact Meri Farling at

Snow Make Up Day

The next snow make up day will be Monday, April 7th, which was originally a teacher work day. Like the last snow make up day, it will be a full day of school – 9:10 a.m.-3:50 p.m.

Also, please note: for that make up day, we will follow a Wednesday Week 2 schedule. Students who have band or strings on that scheduled day should bring their instruments.

PTA Executive Board Openings
What are your interests, how can you support PTA programs and Mantua families? Mantua PTA is recruiting for next year and is looking for nominees for the PTA Executive Board positions of President, Vice President of Programs and Vice President of Fundraising, Treasurer and Secretary. We are also looking for new committee chairs. We have many seasoned volunteers that can answer your questions about the position responsibilities and time commitment. We have continuity books, calendar of events and lots of helping hands willing to get you started and help you along the way if you need. It just takes you to see if there is something that fits your interest and talent and then reach out to one of us. There are many ways to serve and there is something for everyone no matter where you are in your volunteer career. Please consider sharing your time and talents on the PTA Board.

Costa Rica Trip
Do you want to be a part of an amazing experience this summer? Do you want to explore what makes our earth so special? If so, come join Ms. Warner on a Costa Rican adventure!
This summer, Ms. Warner will be leader of the fabulous Costa Rica Trip sponsored by Earth Explore, and she's inviting all rising 5th, 6th, and 7th graders to join her! Earth Explore is a national program designed to offer 5th-8th grade students the opportunity to explore their world through travel and hands-on discovery. This amazing trip is currently priced at $2,395 – which includes all meals, all lodging, all ground transportation, and all educational lessons/activities/guides (airfare cost TBD.)
The trip will be from July 26th-August 2nd. Throughout the trip, students will have the opportunity to see rich landscape and wildlife of this country. We will explore Tortuguero National Park, raft the Rio Pejivalle River, watch a sea turtle lay eggs, visit a local school, go down a zip line in the jungle, hike in the Monteverde Cloud Forest, go on a horseback ride, and climb to a forest Sky Walk in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest. During many of these activities, the group will view various wildlife species such as sloths, toucans, ocelot, and iguanas.
Ms. Warner is not doing this as a 4th grade teacher from Mantua, but as someone who loves learning, enjoys being outdoors, and wants to have an adventure. This event is not sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools or Mantua Elementary School. This is solely Taylor Warner working with Earth Explore to offer an incredible opportunity to students.
Please take some time to read the information from Earth Explore, visit, and consider this fantastic opportunity. If you are interested in hearing more, please email Ms. Warner at!
