Actively Caring
“Actively Caring for People embodies a large-scale movement that aims to establish a more compassionate, interdependent, and empathic culture within schools, businesses, organizations, and throughout entire communities. By encouraging people to actively care, individuals are inspired to perform intentional acts of kindness as part of their daily routine. The positive exchanges between people, resulting from actively-caring behaviors and its supportive recognition has a mutually reinforcing effect and leads to an actively-caring culture.”

Teachers are starting the program this week. They will give students a green bracelet when they witness an act of caring that goes above and beyond. Once a child receives a bracelet, they can keep it or pass it to a classmate, staff member, or community member that actively cares for someone else. To discourage students from collecting wrist bands, only one bracelet should be worn at a time. If you do not have a wrist band to pass, we are encouraging staff to verbally recognize and thank the student for “actively caring.” If your child brings home a green bracelet, ask them what they did to receive it! 
