November General PTA Meeting

The monthly PTA meeting will be held on Friday, November 1st at 9:30 a.m. in the Mantua Elementary cafeteria. (Please note that this is a change of date from the originally published date.) The PTA will continue to alternate its monthly meeting schedule between day and evening meetings to help accommodate varying parent schedules. There is no better place to learn from Ms. Fernandez about today's hot school topics. Come say hello to our school principal and our assistant principals, Ms. Tingler and Ms. Alley.

Late or Tardy Arrivals

For the safety of all students, any child who is being dropped off at school late enough in the morning that they will not be able to be in their class by 9:10 a.m. must be brought directly to the office by a parent. If the Kiss & Ride monitors are not outside, that is a signal that the student must be brought to the office. The parent will sign the student “in”, the student will receive a tardy pass, and someone from the office will escort the student to their classroom.

The procedure is the same for students arriving late due to doctor’s appointments later in the day. Parents must escort the students into the office and sign them in. Please call the attendance line at (703) 645-6363 to keep the office posted on arranged late arrivals.

Spirit Parade

The spirit parade will be on Thursday, October 31st at 2:30 p.m. All the children will be on the field by Kiss & Ride. Parents are welcome to join us to watch the school-wide parade.

Picture Make Up Day

Picture make up day will be Wednesday, November 6th. Students will be called up by grade or family. The retakes will be on the stage and will only last until 12:00 p.m. If you want your child’s picture taken again, please send them in with the old packet on picture day. If you did not order pictures on picture day, but would like to order them on retake day, please contact the front office for an order envelope.

Run for Rocky!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came out for our first ever Run for Rocky fundraiser! The weather was great, Mr. Collins kept us hopping with great music, and Rocky cheered all the kids on! Congratulations to Leah Meyer. She was last week's winner of the final MP3 player. A BIG congratulations to Layla Middleton and Carissa Haughey for winning the two Kindle Fires! Ms. Morrison's class was the big winner for having the most students participate in this terrific event. They will be celebrating with a popsicle party. A very special thank you to Anne and Sarah Harrington for being the sponsors of this great event. And, a HUGE thank you to Meri Farling for starting this fun tradition at Mantua!
