Parent News

Students are invited to participate in a fun art event focusing on kindness at the Palos Verdes Street Fair & Music Festival, occurring June 8th from 10 am to 10 pm and June 9th from 10 am to 9 pm.

In collaboration with Art to Grow On Children’s Art Center, Inc., students from schools across the South Bay are being asked to create their own work of art showing their ideas of what it means to “Celebrate Kindness.” The piece will be created on a regular 8.5"x11" piece of paper using any medium they choose. Then, during the Street Fair weekend, we invite the students to bring their artwork to a special booth where it will be displayed to the public. For their participation, each student will be given a small gift of appreciation from the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce thanking them for their involvement and community-minded participation.

For more information, click here.

Click here for the entry form.

We celebrated reaching our Fun Run goal of $34,000 on Thursday by "pieing" 17 teachers, coaches, and even Mrs. Marcus. Thank you to the faculty who participated in this fabulous Fun Run incentive. Thank you to the Soleado Community for the generous donations that go to the multitude of programs our students enjoy all year - performing arts, technology, gardens, Art at Your Fingertips, and so much more!

2019-2020 Soleado Optional School Supply Pre-Order Form

At the beginning of every school year, students are asked  to bring in a variety of school and classroom supplies.

We understand that it can be difficult to shop for all of these items at the beginning of the school year, so we take care of the work for you!

The Soleado Optional School Supply Program offers the opportunity for parents to pre-purchase the yearly school supplies now. This includes all back-to-school supplies as well as the materials mentioned above that your student will need during the school year. This means you aren't running around looking for those hard to get oil pastels, folders, pencil sharpeners, etc. on the teacher's list!

Total cost per student: $65 (K-5): $40 Student Classroom Supplies, $20 Grade Level Supplies, $5 Student Scholastic Subscriptions

To assure that your child's supplies will be waiting for them in the classroom on the first day of school, pre-orders are being taken now. You may pay online, mail or deliver check to the school office. Please make checks payable to "Soleado Elementary School". Thank you!

Student News
Below is an an article on Math Field Day written by Yejun Kang, Nathan Wong, and Hayoon Chung, a few of our 5th graders.

On April 27, we had the experience of a lifetime. We had the opportunity to participate in the Los Angeles Math Field Day. But it had not been easy to achieve this opportunity. Here’s how we were able to make it to this event.

In order to qualify for the PV Math Field Day, you must have your grade’s top six scores in the school from a test. The Soleado 4th graders who qualified were Souta Enomoto, Kevin Han, Owen Yeh, Allen Xie, Clare Kobayashi, and Alex Wang. The alternate was Nathan Soeng. The 5th graders who went to the Math Field Day were Yejun Kang, Nathan Wong, Hayoon Chung, Marcus Lee, Kristian Park, and Audrey Chu. The alternate was Ko Akagawa.

At the PV Elementary Math Field Day. The Soleado 4th grade trophy winners were Kevin Han, Souta Enomoto, Allen Xie, and Owen Yeh. The 5th grade trophy winners were Yejun Kang, Nathan Wong, and Hayoon Chung. The trophy winners advanced to take part in several weeks of meetings where students took exams and tests, which decided the top four students who got to be on the PV team that would later participate in the LA County Math Field Day.

The Soleado students that moved on to LA County were Kevin Han, Souta Enomoto, Yejun Kang, Nathan Wong, and Hayoon Chung. At the LA County Math Field Day, both the fourth and fifth grade teams earned a gold medal for Conceptual Understanding. For Problem Solving, fourth grade won gold, and fifth a silver. Fourth grade also won a bronze medal  on individual tests given.

Thanks to our amazing coaches, who prepared us for this competition. Soleado is proud to boast so many good math students!
