Principal's Message
Soleado Families,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Please see below for some wonderful resources available from the Palos Verdes Library District. Additionally, we will be sharing more information soon about optional library book pick-up from our school library.

Palos Verdes Library District

Personal Library Cards for Students Under 14

PVLD’s official policy does not permit children under 14 to apply for a personal library card for themselves without signed approval from a parent or guardian. However, until the pandemic eases and PVLD is able to re-open its buildings safely to the public, we are relaxing the requirement for advanced written approval.
If students under 14 want their own card, they may get verbal permission from a parent or guardian to do so and use the link below to apply for a new card:

Online Registration for New Library Card

Once the library receives the online registration form, we will email an individual library card number and personal identification number (PIN) to the email address listed on the application within 48 hours.
In the future, after the library buildings re-open, we may then ask for a parent or guardian to contact us to provide official approval for the child’s card.

PVPUSD Student Success Card

For PVPUSD students who don’t have a personal library card and PIN — and who want to gain immediate access to our electronic resources only — PVLD has teamed with the school district to create a special, virtual library card that we call the Student Success Card.

The Student Success Card lets a student use his or her 6-digit PVPUSD student ID number (the "57" or "58" number) in conjunction with an 8-digit library prefix (29350888) to create a temporary library card number.

When using this special number to place a hold on or access an electronic resource, the user may be prompted by the system for a PIN. The student simply enters his or her birth date in the format “MMDD.” For example, if the birth date is August 15, he or she would enter “0815.”

The Student Success Card number is for access to online resources only — it will never allow a student to check out a physical item (book, DVD, video game, music CD, etc.) from the library.

For a detailed explanation of the Student Success Card, and some of the many resources available, click on this link.

For any questions about PVLD library card options and procedures, please call PVLD’s Young Readers department at 310-377-9584, ext. 600. Leave a message, and a librarian will get back to you shortly. Or you may contact us in writing at https://pvld.org/contact.
