Dear Dapplegray Family,
It is bittersweet that I write my last president's message to you.  It has been an honor to serve as Dapplegray's PTA President the last two years.  I am proud of what PTA has accomplished over these last two challenging years.  I am grateful for the kind, smart, hard working and courageous board members I have served alongside and I am thankful for the support and partnership of Mrs. Stutzel.  Thank you to all who joined PTA, attended meetings, volunteered, and supported PTA these last few years.  We could not have done it without you!
I am passing the baton to very capable and kind hands.  Becky Cohu will be an amazing president with Dara Adams by her side as her Executive Vice President.  I can't wait to see what they accomplish and I know we will all support them and PTA as they take the reins.
I also want to thank the people who have made the National PTA School of Excellence Lunchtime Programs possible.  The following people have been instrumental in this program: Mrs. Stutzel, Mrs. Magbitang, Ms. Buenrostro, Anna Littleford, Yvette D'Elia, Denise Stone, Harold Kim, An Pham, Paul Pham, Juan Thorn, Brian More, Kristen DeLeo, Katie Buckley, Natsu Haga, Dara Adams, Adela Randazzo, Julianne Lusain, Lesly Combs, Laura Pendergrast, Adriana Kruse, Julie Robertson, and the Dapplegray Student Council.  Together, these parents are providing yoga, art, tennis, sports, dance and movement, and garden time twice a week and serving 180 plus kids each week.  A very special thanks to the More Family for getting the tennis and pickle ball courts up and running again!  They look so great!  Please take a minute to learn more about the program and see some fun pictures of the kids enjoying these programs.

Thank you again for the honor of being your PTA president.  I hope you all have a wonderful summer and enjoy special time with family and friends.
Warmly,
Holly Woesner
Proud Dapplegray PTA President

Dapplegray PTA is continuing our participation in the National PTA School of Excellence program to grow our family-school partnerships and enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students in our community.  After completing the program, our school and PTA will be celebrated as national leaders in family-school partnerships and continuous school improvement. Plus, as a School of Excellence, Dapplegray will automatically be considered for National PTA’s highest honor—the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Awards.
As part of the program, National PTA requests feedback from families, teachers, and staff at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. We have used your responses from the first survey in October and November to implement an action plan for continuous school improvement. Thus far we have:
1)    Implemented lunchtime programs designed to provide an alternative to the playground in the form of art, yoga, dance, tennis, and movement and to provide parental support and guidance on the playground by encouraging and modeling good sportsmanship and fun, fair, and safe play and

2)    Planned class playdates to help families connect outside of school to support the development of relationships that are vital to our community.

Now it is time for our second survey! We are proud of what we have accomplished so far, and kindly ask for your feedback once again. Your responses will not only help us show our improvements but will also provide us with more information as we continue to build upon our efforts to enhance family-school partnerships in the future.
Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at Dapplegray and complete the final survey. CLICK HERE to complete the survey.  Mark the response that most accurately expresses how you feel about your experience. Please complete this survey by May 27, 2022.

South Bay Families Connected: Focus on Youth Wellness

Finally, after a full year of distance learning, some students have, understandably, experienced the return to in-person learning as a social challenge. PVPUSD partner South Bay Families Connected (SBFC), a network of 115 schools in the South Bay, has organized Teaching Social Skills: Resources for Parents and Guardians, which contains a video featuring students at local schools, including PVPUSD’s own Rhys Moon, sharing their perspectives regarding the social ups and downs of returning to in-person learning. There you will also find some useful tips to support your children and teens as they develop and refine their own social skills. For related resources, please visit the SBFC Healthy Relationships Page. The SBFC Virtual Teen Center contains a wide variety of mental health and wellness topics. To see more youth wellness resources provided by PVPUSD and SBFC, please visit our own PVPUSD Families Connected
