Dear Dapplegray Family,
As we approach Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving, it is a great time to honor and thank those who have sacrificed for us and for our freedoms.  We are especially thankful for the Dapplegray Family veterans and we look forward to honoring them this week with a special presentation organized and created by Dapplegray Parent Aly Beck. Thank you, Aly!
We approach the month of November with thanksgiving for our classroom volunteers and that they are able to be back on campus.  We are thankful for our incredible teachers and staff for their dedication to our students. We are grateful to the Dapplegray Community for generously giving of your time, your money, and your resources.  Because of you, PTA met and exceeded our membership goal, had an abundance of candy for the Trunk or Treat, and donated hundreds of pounds of canned and dry goods to Toberman Neighborhood Center.
Each month we experience more "return to normal," which makes us hopeful that this pandemic is nearing its end.  We hope this month allows our Dapplegray Families a time to rest and celebrate together.  Happy Thanksgiving, Colts!

Warmly,
Holly Woesner
Proud Dapplegray PTA President

Picture Re-Take Day is TOMORROW, November 9th

If your child was not able to take pictures on the original dates, you are encouraged to order online for your child(ren). This link will take you directly to their website and will automatically log you into their site. You will only need to add your email address.
A few points regarding retake day:

  • Make-up day will be students that were absent on picture day or new students that have enrolled after your initial picture date.
  • Absent students and new students are encouraged to order online to avoid any shipping costs at a later time.
  • Anyone photographed on make-up day will receive a "Proof" booklet when pictures are returned to school. These proofs will contain an individualized access code so they can access their image online.
  • Any student that ordered a picture package and was not happy with their portrait is welcome to come and have their photo retaken. We do ask that they bring back their purchased package, the photographer will take that package. A new picture package with their new photo will be printed and resent to school.

A note from Palos Verdes Library District Young Readers Manager Laura Henry
Hello Dapplegray Colts! The library is now OPEN and welcoming visitors.  Online services are still available, like homework help. through our online tutoring service,  Brainfuse. Students will be connected with a screened, trained tutor and get expert help via instant messaging. They can get help with specific homework or general concepts. Check it out with our super short video and feel free to share with kids, teachers and parents too!
Students who have a state or country assignment coming up may want to explore another online resource, CultureGrams. If you click on this link to our short tutorial, you’ll see that this new resource supplies up-to-date reliable and fascinating information about each country.
Feel free to reach out with any questions; lhenry@pvld.org.
